Joseph L. Annest, PhD , National Center for Injury Prevention and Control/DARPI, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, GA
Holly Hedegaard, MD, MSPH , Office of Analysis and Epidemiology, National Center for Health Statistics, Hyattsville, MD
Margaret Warner, PhD , Division of Vital Statistics, Mortality Statistics Branch, National Center for Health Statistics (CDC), Hyattsville, MD

This year's session will continue the tradition of past of meetings, where members discuss current issues surrounding injury and emergency health data. Topics for this year's Data Roundtable include:

·        Injury framework for ICD-10-CM: A draft external-cause-of-injury matrix (mechanism by intent) for ICD-10-CM will be introduced.  The matrix is based on a crosswalk from ICD-9-CM to ICD-10-CM and consistency with the ICD-10 mortality matrix. Implications of changes in the coding scheme (e.g., no external cause codes for poisonings and suffocation) will be discussed.

·        New direction for WISQARS: An application for injury data on your mobile device.  This app will provide user-friendly interactive tools for presenting injury statistics through state-level maps, charts, tables and graphs with the touch of a finger.

·         Update from the Data and Surveillance Task Force of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention:  The task force conducted a systematic review of national surveillance systems for monitoring fatal and non-fatal self-harm events. The task force has prepared an overview report with recommendations for possible enhancements/additions to the data systems to improve the availability of surveillance data to inform suicide prevention efforts.

·        Report on ICD-11 and other international activities:  ICD-11 revision is underway and your input is important to the process.  The WHO ICD-11 Topic Advisory Group on external causes met during the Safety 2012 World Conference in New Zealand and the areas of particular concern will be reported.  Other data issues addressed at the Safety 2012 World Conference in New Zealand will also be covered.
