A significant tool, entitled, Crosswalk: An analysis of PHAB standards and Michigan local public health accreditation requirements, is now expanded into a workbook with a fillable tracking tool for local public health agencies with what is required to develop materials for national public health accreditation application to the Public Health National Accreditation Board (PHAB). The workbook was created with specific examples from Michigan's mandatory accreditation criteria for local health departments and used to develop concrete examples of the appropriate elements to be compiled and submitted for national accreditation (http://practice.sph.umich.edu/practice/accreditation.php).

The presentation will include examples of how local health departments in and outside of Michigan can employ the electronic workbook to establish policies, procedures and program components and generate relevant components, required for PHAB. The workbook will determine existing documentation, what are the gaps and what next steps should be completed to assemble all sections for PHAB application.

Using the workbook tool, state health departments can add their state-specific local health reporting requirements and correlate those with listed PHAB standards to illustrate how local health can complete the PHAB application. Hence, the workbook tool will show what is already is in place and what must be generated.

Learning Objectives: 1. Explain the workbook tool and define its sections and application.

2. Demonstrate how to use the workbook tool to generate materials for PHAB application.

3. Compare how the workbook tool has been used by Michigan local health agencies with how it can be used by other states for PHAB accreditation preparation.
