![]() 264592 Determinants of carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity in healthy KoreanSunday, October 28, 2012
Purpose The aim of this study is to show normal value of carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV) according to age group, gender, prehypertension, dyslipidemia, smoking and obesity in healthy Korean, and to investigate association between cfPWV and prehypertension, dyslipidemia, smoking, and obesity. Methods We had an arterial stiffness clinical trial on 116 normal subjects who were 20 to 69 year-old in no evidence of cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular accident, hypertension, diabetes mellitus or lung cancer at the Cardiac and Vascular Center from February 2010 to May 2011. Results Distribution of cfPWV by age group showed increasing mean value as aged. For cfPWV by age group and gender, male subjects showed higher cfPWV than female (P<0.001). For cfPWV by age group and blood pressure classification, cfPWV of prehypertensive group was higher than that of normotensive group (P<0.001). cfPWV by age group and dyslipidemia, current smoking, or obesity was shown in Figure 4, 5 and 6 (P<0.001). In multiple linear regression, prehypertension was highly associated with cfPWV after adjustment for age, gender and confounding factors (P<0.001). Conclusions The cfPWV has been shown to be associated with aging, gender, prehypertension, dyslipidemia, current smoking, and obesity in healthy Korean. And, we showed associated between cfPWV and prehypertension. and prehypertension.
