266887 Evaluation of the Creating Active Communities and Healthy Environments (CACHE) Toolkit PilotTuesday, October 30, 2012
: 5:00 PM - 5:15 PM
Obesity is a problem among adult Army retirees and family members. The Creating Active Communities and Healthy Environments (CACHE) Toolkit is an initiative under the Family Member and Retiree Healthy Weight Campaign Plan (FMRHW-CP) that focuses on addressing environmental causes of obesity. The CACHE toolkit assesses current physical activity and nutrition environments of Army installations through the use of the Military Nutrition Environment Assessment Tool (m-NEAT) and Promoting Active Communities (PAC) tool. The electronic toolkit provides installations with the m-NEAT, PAC tool, instructions, resources, and supportive tools for their assessment. The U.S. Army Public Health Command conducted a process evaluation on pilot sites using the CACHE Toolkit. The evaluation assessed the need, feasibility, utility, satisfaction, and factors associated with implementation process of the toolkit. Surveys, stakeholder interviews, and document review were employed for this evaluation. Results from the evaluation will be used to better adapt the toolkit to Army communities.
