This session will provide an overview of the Learning Institute, highlight historical epidemiology and how it relates to current epidemiology, and discuss the scope of Epidemiology for non-Epidemiologists. At the beginning of this session, participants will complete a short registration form and a very brief pretest questionnaire.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants willbe able to: 1. Desrcibe historical aspects of epidemiological studies and events and relate them to current status of epidemiology in public health 2. Discuss the scope of epidemiology as an approach to application and interpretation of population events
