271644 Public Health Accreditation Experience from the Perspective of a Large, Urban CountyTuesday, October 30, 2012
: 10:30 AM - 10:50 AM
In this presentation we will describe how public health accreditation addresses the Triple Aim by achieving the simultaneous pursuit of: improving the experience of care, improving the health of populations, and reducing per capita costs of health care. This presentation will provide insights into extremely large urban populations and the associated multiculturalism and ethnic diversity represented in these populations, as well as their degrees of assimilation. We will discuss the numerous large and small, sophisticated and singular missions the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health must balance with the local entities/stakeholders involved. Furthermore, by describing the county-level experience as each of the 12 public health accreditation domains are implemented we can discuss how these domains are embedded into the organizational systems and how specific facilitators and barriers to compliance are identified and resolved. In depicting this pursuit we will elaborate on their assumed roles and responsibilities as they leverage accreditation to achieve the Triple Aim. These roles and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to partnership with individuals and families, redesign of primary care, population health management, financial management, and macro system integration. Ultimately, this presentation will provide insight on how public health agencies can use accreditation to establish greater organizational legitimacy, which in turn can enhance public support and funding. on 2-29-2012-->
