Community Kitchens Northwest (CKNW) is a Seattle-based community-developed and supported organization with the mission of promoting the development of Community Kitchens through support, knowledge and resource sharing. Community kitchens are places where community members' come together to obtain, cook and consume healthy food. The first Northwest community kitchen began in the fall of 2007 and grew to over 11 kitchens by 2009. Community kitchens are one health promotion approach to healthy eating, social support networks and food security. Each CKNW Community Kitchen story is unique. This short video highlights one CKNW community kitchen model by exploring Northwest community kitchens from the voices of youth participants. Kitchen description, structure, strategies, goals, processes, outcomes, community partnerships and CKNW progress since 2007 are discussed. Video view link: http://vimeo.com/15757983
