Lisa Barr, MA PhD JD , An Iron Daisy CSA, Freelance Writer, Oneonta, NY
Analysis of 2 years of media failures to identify, explain and describe environmental hazards to the areas hardest hit by fracking in Bradford and Susquehanna Counties, PA. It describes the types of stories delineating health risks related to environmental pollution that COULD have and SHOULD have been told before fracking began and after fracking began. It names the problematic content that was published, instead of the information the media did release. It demonstrates the resultant coverage after accidents, pollution, and health risks are exposed. The media performance is too little-too late. And this mini-documentary explains how the media could do a better job. It also shows ways public health workers have helped the media do a better job.
