Cancer epidemiology data available through state cancer registries is vital to comprehensive cancer control planning, implementation, and evaluation including assessment of the cancer burden, setting goals and objectives, guiding community priorities and intervention selection, and measuring program impact. This panel session will highlight the systematic process developed by the Kentucky Cancer Registry and Kentucky Cancer Consortium for aggregating cancer epidemiology and sociodemographic data, presenting this data to state and community constituents for intervention planning and evaluation, and how this process influenced colorectal cancer screening, incidence, and mortality rates in Kentucky. This process can be adopted by other state and community organizations to translate cancer epidemiology data into public health practice to reduce the burden of disease. The purpose of this specific presentation is to provide educators, clinicians and public health practitioners with an understanding of CDC's comprehensive cancer control program, the Kentucky Cancer Consortium, and Kentucky's 15 district cancer councils.
