The Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS) is a grassroots community-based Palestinian health organization, and one of the largest non-governmental organizations providing health care to the population of the occupied Palestinian territories. Its work includes primary health care delivered in both fixed and mobile clinics; Community Based Rehabilitation; health education; youth programs; psychosocial and mental health; and programs in women's health and children‘s health. The challenges of providing essential health services to a civilian population living under conditions of military occupation will be reviewed.
