The purpose of this presentation is to provide a brief overview of gender and sex identifiers. The distinction between sex and gender are critical for gender integration. Gender characteristics are socially constructed, relational, hierarchical, dynamic and context-specific and systematic. A clear understanding of gender characteristics is key to gender integration in health programs
