: 8:30 AM - 8:50 AM
Exposure to traumatic events and the resulting physical and mental health consequences is one of the greatest public health threats facing our nation. This presentation will address the prevalence of potentially traumatizing events among women and girls as well as discus the health consequences of this exposure. Accordingly, the Federal Partners Working Group on Women and Trauma has been established and is actively working to catalyze dialog, policy and programming across Federal departments. The Office on Women's Health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has been a leader, along with SAMHSA and other HHS agencies, in addressing the impact of trauma on women and girls.
