This presentation will discuss ASTHO's activities and how the organization mobilizes its members to take action on public health issues. Examples will be given from The Healthy Babies Initiative and previous President's Challenges. The importance of the state health official and other state leadership, such as governors and legislatures, will also be discussed.

Learning Objectives:
Discuss current policy options to improve birth outcomes. Identify opportunities to collaborate in maternal and child health and other public health priorities. Describe how to engage legislatures, employers, and hospitals in policy. Identify how to set strategies to achieve policy goals.
