The Committee on Women's Rights (COWR) relates the concerns of the entire American Public Health Association's membership and all its organization components to the problems associated with women in society which involves consideration of health, health services and health career opportunity. This session is organized by COWR to encourage women including young women to pursue leadership positions in public health and professional associations. This inaugural session will include American Public Health Association's Past Presidents who will include in the conversation (1.) Successes and challenges in leadership positions. (2.) Moving up the career ladder. (3.) Role of women in promoting a public health agenda to improve the health status and quality of life for women. (4.) Balancing career and family life. (5.) Mentoring of aspiring public health professionals.

Describe the role of women as leaders in public health workplace and in professional organizations. Discuss challenges in leadership, and balancing career and family life. Describe how to prepare the next generation of women as leaders in public health.
