The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services serves as a health care safety net for the largest county in the United States with a population of over 2 million uninsured. Implementation of the Affordable Care Act of 2010 and the recent great recession necessitates rapid transformation of health care delivery for our system. A few key examples of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services' efforts to improve quality, patient centeredness, and cost-effectiveness will be discussed in this presentation.
