The Building Healthy Communities (BHC) Initiative of the California Endowment, a private statewide health foundation, is an ambitious $1 billion, 10-year place-based initiative designed to improve the physical, social, economic, and service environments that promote health in 14 low income California communities so that all children are healthy, safe, and ready to learn. The CEO of The California Endowment will describe the foundation's history and path to the development and implementation of Building Healthy Communities.
