The Healthy People 2020 framework provides science-based, 10-year national objectives for improving the health of all Americans. For three decades, Healthy People has established benchmarks and monitored progress over time in order to: encourage collaborations across communities and sectors, empower individuals toward making informed health decisions, and measure the impact of prevention activities. This session will provide an overview of the use of the Healthy People 2020 framework and the MAPP process, in collaborative models between local health departments, hospitals, and other partners.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to: • Describe the Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) process • Describe the Healthy People 2020 framework • Discuss common challenges to partnerships • Identify the community benefit requirement as a solution to partnership challenges • Describe the benefits of health departments and hospitals partnering
