274451 Countdown to Coverage: Making the promise of health reform real for women and our familiesMonday, October 29, 2012
: 3:10 PM - 3:25 PM
Enactment of the Affordable Care Act health reform law was an historic moment for women and our families, offering the promise of affordable coverage for the health care we need. But turning that promise into reality has required intensive engagement in the implementation process at the federal and state levels, as well as the use of public education campaigns. This presentation will describe the advocacy and public education efforts being employed by Raising Women's Voices to inform women about what they and their families are gaining from the Affordable Care Act. The presentation will describe a campaign called Countdown to Coverage and explain how it is being used to mobilize women to defend the law and secure its promised benefits and protections. Special attention will be given to the successful effort to secure contraceptive coverage with no-co-pays in all new health insurance plans, and the use of that new benefit to increase women's support for the law.
