APHA has adopted hundreds of policy statements over the years which address scores of public health problems and solutions. Public health leaders have a role in developing, promoting and using APHA policy statements to advance research initiatives, improve laws and regulations, establish interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of them all. This presentation will provide examples of how some public health leaders use APHA policy statements as integral tools in the fight for health and justice.

(1) identify at least two ways they can use APHA policies for advocacy; and (2) list key steps in the development, adoption and promotion of APHA policy statements.
