The purpose of this panelist's presentation is to define approaches and tools undertaken within the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) to measure and report performance on defined metrics. Balanced Scorecard approaches are particularly relevant to the field as public health departments and organizations must manage for performance. The panelist will discuss ASTHO's collaborative efforts in this area. He will provide valuable information on the successful conceptualization and planning of BSC approaches and tools, as well as practical insights on facilitating factors, challenges, and lessons learned through implementation. He will offer unique "on-the-ground" insights on the use of these approaches and tools from a performance management perspective.
