274850 Bringing Partners Together: Why Relationship Building is Essential for Success with Inter-Sectoral Programs

The California Health in All Policies Task Force builds partnership across 18 State agencies to to improve the health and sustainability of California. In implementing Health in All Policies in California, staff are fostering relationships with State agencies across a variety of sectors, local public health departments, and stakeholders representing research, policy, and community interests.

This presentation will highlight the essential nature of relationship building for the success of the Health in All Policies approach. The presenter will describe steps taken to develop relationships, maintain those relationships, and help mediate conflicts between agencies. Task Force staff contracted with Harder+Company Community Research, a research and planning firm, to conduct a process and early outcome evaluation of the HiAP collaborative process. This presentation will summarize the evaluation findings and describe those elements that have been most successful in building relationships across sectors.
