This presentation will address my involvement in school-based health center advocacy and youth development work over the past six years, both as a participant and as a mentor in the field. I will detail my early development as a public health champion at a Los Angeles school-based health center. I will also provide an overview of the cascading mentorship model and describe the role I have played in developing a younger generation of emerging public health leaders.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I am qualified to serve as a panelist for this session because I have been an intern with the California School Health Centers Association (CSHC), and I served as the liaison between CSHC and students at Cesar Chavez High School to ensure the completion of the students’ community-based participatory research project. I have been involved in the school health field for six years, both as a young leader and now as a mentor.
