CDC's National Influenza Vaccination Disparities Partnership (NIVDP), launched in August of 2011, was created to identify a diverse cross-section of alliances and develop action-oriented partnerships at the grassroots level. The main objective is to build long-term, self-sustaining partnerships committed to promoting flu vaccination. Through local outreach, educational and promotional efforts the NIVDP is focused on reducing flu vaccination disparities among African American, American Indian/Alaska Native and Hispanic groups.

The presenter will highlight key elements of the partner plan for recruitment, maintenance, public/private collaboration, and sustainment of the NIVDP. Ms. Garcia will share outcomes from NIVDP regional and national workshops that identify and prioritize innovative strategies to broaden the level of engagement and membership, and establish commitment from the partnership.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I serve as Health Communication Specialist for the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). I am also the team lead for the national influenza vaccine communications campaign and have over 15 years of experience as a CDC contractor charged with directing various immunization campaigns targeting audiences through the lifespan.
