274929 Improving Community Health Through Policy: Case Study FindingsWednesday, October 31, 2012
: 8:30 AM - 8:50 AM
From quarantine orders to smoke-free ordinances, public health polices play an integral role in keeping our communities healthy. A set of 10 case studies were conducted examining how public health agencies engage in effective policy work. This presentation will highlight promising practices in policy development and capacity building. I will begin by providing an overview of the methodology for selecting the sites, review the health departments that participated in the study and describe major themes that arose in the case studies. The presentation will conclude with a discussion of lessons learned by the health departments as they employ policy strategies to improve population health.
