She received her MPH from Tulane's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 2003. She has worked extensively in New Mexico, South Asia, Brazil and Louisiana in the areas of HIV/AIDS, water and sanitation, community based disaster preparedness, prevention of child labor and trafficking and environmental justice. Currently, she is the Program Manager for the Louisiana Bucket Brigade.
