The APHA Committee on Women's Rights has been working to educate health care professionals about the growing pandemic which is violence against women. This session will discuss the sociocultural and political issues related to violence and the steps which can be taken at various levels to address this public health challenge.
Session Objectives: 1. Identify why violence against women is a major public health issue. 2. Identify the various types of gender based violence. 3. Discuss emerging preventive strategies to address violence against women.
