Session Objectives: Assess the degree to which fear of deportation may impact undocumented immigrants’ treatment-seeking behaviors in different communities.
Discuss deportation processes and statistics from the U.S. to Mexico
List research strategies that proved successful in a pilot study of new deportees.
Discuss strategies for forming community-public health coalitions to address undocumented immigrants’ reluctance to access public health services.
Discuss barriers to HIV prevention, care and treatment services from the perspectives of Health Department staff, providers and consumers in a national study of Latino Gay Men
Describe the health-related implications of legal barriers constraining access to services for undocumented immigrant populations using a comparative approach between the U.S. state of Georgia and in Germany.
Identify gaps in research on impact of migration on women’s mental health and quality of life.
Identify migrant women’s perceptions of what experiences have impacted on their mental health and quality of life
