The purpose of this session is to provide the most recent information on what’s new in health care reform and how it affects the oral health of the US population. The most recent information on the Affordable Care Act and oral health programs and initiatives will be presented from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and Children Now. In addition, the most recent Congressional activity will be presented in light of the current status and expected future of health care reform as it affects oral health.
Session Objectives: Describe the current status of the Affordable Care Act List, describe and discuss the most recent oral health activities and initiatives occurring in HHS, HRSA and Children Now. Discuss and assess the political realities of oral health legislation in Congress and its implications for the future.
