PRSH honors its 2012 award winners during this celebratory reception for noted leaders in the field of reproductive and sexual health. A panel conversation on Roe v Wade will follow. Custom cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served. About the Panel: January 22, 2013 will mark the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision recognizing a woman’s right to abortion in the U.S. The issue of abortion, however, remains one of the most politically contested issues of our time. What can public health researchers tell us about the state of abortion in the U.S 40 years after Roe? Five leading scholars in the field will engage in a moderated conversation sharing what they know, don’t know, and what to know about this question. The audience will have an opportunity to weigh in with their thoughts.
Session Objectives: Identify the PRSH Section's 2012 Award winners for excellence in the field. Describe three areas of public health research on the state of abortion care in the US. Identify three research topics that should be pursued to fill knowledge gaps on abortion care in the US.
