Access and ACA: The Role of Health Centers

Tuesday, November 5, 2013 : 2:50 p.m. - 3:10 p.m.

Kaitlin M. McColgan, National Association of Community Health Centers, Washington, DC
The Affordable Care Act envisioned and invested in a doubling of the capacity of the nation's health centers to ensure the newly insured would have a place to go and receive comprehensive primary care services. That expansion has been slowed by the deficit reduction efforts that followed ACA's enactment. This presentation will provide an overview of where the health center expansion stands today and discuss the vital role that health centers will have to play if ACA is to be successful.

Learning Areas:

Provision of health care to the public
Public health or related public policy

Learning Objectives:
Explain ACA’s investment in health centers and the role health centers are expected to play in caring for the newly insured and the remaining uninsured after the law is fully implemented.
