Tuesday, November 5, 2013 : 12:45 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Angela Sanfilippo, DHL, Fishing Partnership Support Services, Gloucester, MA
This presentation will describe the Massachusetts commercial fishing industry's community based CHW navigation program. This is a successful model of using community health workers as healthcare navigators who help commercial fishing families to access healthcare coverage, which opens the doors to the promotion of other public health initiatives.

By focusing on the role of CHWs in promoting healthcare access to this community, and by discussing the impact of Massachusetts' health reform efforts, this presentation will provide insight into the potential role of CHWs in connecting individuals and communities across the country to new coverage options under the Affordable Care Act.
