What Has the IOM Roundtable Learned About Community Engagement and Empowerment?

Since its creation in 2007, the IOM Roundtable on the Promotion of Health Equity and the Elimination of Health Disparities has held a number of public workshops across the country. This presentation will share ideas from these workshops on the topic of community engagement.

Evaluate the role of community engagement in reducing health disparities and promoting health equity. Identify potential community engagement strategies to inform implementation efforts with the ACA.

I am responsible for creating partnerships to advance population health, with a particular focus on the elimination of health disparities. I am a family physician and I hold a masters degree in health policy.
