The Global Health Council (GHC) is a membership alliance dedicated to saving lives and improving the health of the 2 billion people who live on less than $2 per day. Bringing together diverse capabilities and perspectives, GHC promotes evidence-based international health policies that work. To learn more, go to www.globalhealth.org.

This presentation will give an overview of the newly revitalized GHC, review recent efforts to promote collaboration and networking about critical global health priorities, and describe multiple ways of getting involved.

GHC is the collective voice for global health. U.S.-supported global health programs work: from the eradication of smallpox to efforts to combat HIV/AIDS, the U.S. has been a leader in solving some of the world's most challenging health challenges. Global health programs account for one-quarter of 1 percent of the U.S. federal budget, but even this small amount has a positive impact on the lives of billions of people worldwide. Despite the high value per dollar spent and the strong support of many Americans, global health programs face flat or declining funding. In today's tight resource environment, it is paramount to build bridges and coordinate across the private, government and civil society sectors to save lives and improve the quality of life for all. This presentation will highlight the critical role of GHC and other actors in working to improve population health through collective advocacy and outreach, strategic alliances, and ongoing and increasing in-person and digital engagement within the U.S. and abroad.
