This session will look at health reform in the U.S. and the recent reforms to the English National Health Service. The context of the reforms will be explored, particularly at a time of national and international austerity, increasing demand for health care and reducing health inequalities.
Session Objectives: Look at the status & potential health impact of U.S. health reform through the Affordable Care Act.
Describe the recent reforms to the NHS in England and their potential impact on health.
Identify the global relevance of national and local healthcare reforms.
Discuss health system reform in the context of national and international austerity.
