Using niehs research to promote environmental health among state legislators
The focus of the summits is to take research performed by the University of Iowa School of Public Health and translate into viable information that is useful to the state policy making audience. Learning about highly complex chemicals and toxic hazards can be overwhelming to the state legislative audience. These summits provide legislators an opportunity to meet with researchers and learn about the complexities of environmental health research.
These summits do not promote an agenda or policy; rather they are designed to enlighten state policy makers as to environmental health policies and research that support these policies.
This session will present on these efforts to translate environmental health research into viable state policy.
