The concept of an integrative approach to medicine is growing in popularity among consumers and health care providers. The movement is led by conventional biomedicine trained physicians who are opening their practices to include mind-body therapies as well as traditional techniques from other medical cultures such as Asian medicine and specifically, acupuncture. This study examines the views and opinions of practitioners of Asian medicine and acupuncturists regarding what is titled Integrative Medicine (IM). The study asked practitioners to reflect on the role of Asian medicine within contemporary health care, the impact this has on patient care, access to care and how this may impact the health of the public.
