Interactive panel of MA youth present successful cases - youth jobs coalition

An interactive panel of four young people who are experienced in youth-involved policy change efforts will describe their work. The youth experts will share their policy change goals, the impetus for the campaign, actions taken to advance the campaign, collaboration opportunities for public health professionals, outcomes and lessons learned. The majority of this time will be spent answering questions from participants and discussing best practices.

Discuss campaign design and strategies of a policy change campaign that engages youth. Describe effective policy change campaigns that engaged youth.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I am the Lead Organizer of the Youth Jobs Coalition. Youth Jobs Coalition has helped address youth violence and other health inequity issues by mobilizing young people and adults in Massachusetts to increase funding from state government and private sources for youth employment. With the support of my training, facilitation and guidance, youth in the Youth Jobs Coalition have participated in significant policy victories including increasing state funding for youth jobs to $9 million dollars.
