Greenmarket roundtrip: Local and seasonal foods

Wednesday, November 6, 2013 : 10:50 AM - 11:10 AM

Susana Leong, EdD , University of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA
Greenmarket is a great alternative or supplement to traditional supermarkets. Unlike traditional supermarkets, greenmarkets do not operate indoors and it usually only sell seasonal and local foods. Foods that are picked when they are ripe are more nutritious.

Grocery shopping can seem like a chore. Supermarkets can be thought of as a science when it comes to product placement on their shelves. Greenmarkets products are all placed in boxes over a small surface area. It is easy to overlook items that are for sale because the items changes from time to time based on what are in season and the weather.
