Reaccreditation of an mph program

San José State University's MPH program, with a specialization in community health education, has been continuously accredited since 1974. We offer an MPH program in campus and distance formats. Strategies for including key stakeholders in CEPH accreditation planning will be discussed, including the process of using work groups for improving admissions, curricular alignment between campus and distance formats of our MPH program, alumni relations, and professional development. An overview will be presented on how we involved health practitioners in the planning of our comprehensive exam that assesses students' ability to apply knowledge and skills in a situation that parallels a professional practice experience. Strategies for enhancing the professional development of students will also be discussed.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I have been the director of a CEPH accredited MPH program for the last 12 years. I have conducted community-based needs assessments and evaluations in both rural and urban areas throughout California. On a regular basis I conduct primary care effectiveness reviews for the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration Public Health Service, HIV/AIDS Bureau.
