Capacity building for improved and expanded social service and health care provision to low-income transfeminine/transwomen of color: Lessons from the field

This talk will be an overview of the various projects undertaken by the Center of Excellence for Transgender Health (CoE) to improve services targeting low-income and poverty-class transfeminine/transwomen of color. I will first discuss our multiple capacity building projects working with several community-based organizations and health and medical providers across the United States and Puerto Rico. I will then discuss the CoE's recent expansion into capacity building and advocacy internationally in several countries in partnership with Sexual and Health Rights Project of the Open Society Foundation, as well as the successful implementation of the bi-annual National Transgender Health Summit, in partnership with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. Finally, I will conclude with a discussion of our recently initiated multi-site SPNS project.
