Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Jurkowski currently works and conducts research within rural communities, and is currently a Professor and Graduate Program Director, within the School of Social Work, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, located in Carbondale, Illinois (downstate from Chicago!). She has had an interest in promoting professional development and helping maintain healthy communities and accessible communities for older adults. In her quest to promote access to care, Dr. Jurkowski has partnered with numerous community based agencies to promote access to care. Her research primarily within the areas of aging and disability has focused upon creating healthy and inclusive communities for people as they grow older or are mobility impaired.
