Biographical Sketch: Kathleen Sternas, Ph.D, RN is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at Seton Hall University in New Jersey. She has her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, a Master’s degree in community health /adult health nursing from Pennsylvania State University. Her Ph.D is in nursing science from Case Western Reserve University.
MaryAnn Scharf, Ed.D, RN, is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at Seton Hall University. She has her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Ohio State University. Dr. Scharf has her Master’s degree in community health and a Ed.D in nursing education from Columbia University, New York, New York.
Dr. Kathleen Sternas and Dr. MaryAnn Scharf are project evaluators for a grant awarded to Friends and Families United, Inc., Newark Best Friends and Best Men Programs which focuses on evaluation of outcomes of a youth development abstinence education intervention for teenagers which aims to reduce risky behaviors. RoseMarie Peterkin, MAT, is Project Director and Executive Director of Friends and Families United, Inc. She is Director of the Newark Best Friends and Best Men Programs. Janet Summerly, MSN, RN is a research associate on the Adolescent Family Life project.
