Biographical Sketch:
Joe is interested in health impact assessment and healthy urban governance. Joe completed his MPH at the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 2001. He has worked for organizations including the Gorgas Memorial Institute, Nashville-Davidson County Metro Health Department, Doctors Without Borders and the Child Policy Research Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. He has participated in and led a variety of activities such as operational research, infectious disease surveillance and investigation and monitoring and evaluation, in community partnerships in many different contexts. Joe also completed a masters of community planning degree in 2010 at the University of Cincinnati. He is now a doctoral student the University of California Berkeley. His dissertation is focused on evaluating HIA practice and applying HIA with an emphasis on participation and broad social determinants of health, particularly education.
