Biographical Sketch: Burton Cowgill, PhD
Dr. Cowgill is the senior project director for the UCLA/RAND Center for Adolescent Health Promotion (a CDC-funded prevention research center). Dr. Cowgill is currently involved in number of research projects related to childhood obesity and much of his research utilizes the principles of community-based participatory research. Dr. Cowgill’s other areas of interest include the impact of HIV/AIDS on families with an HIV-positive parent, the role of family leave policies, and the training of youth to serve as public health educators and advocates.
