Biographical Sketch: Dr. Brown received a combined M.D. from the New York University School of Medicine and a Masters in Public Health from the Columbia University School of Public Health. After completing an internal medicine residency at Harlem Hospital and a fellowship in neuroendocrinology at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, he subsequently received academic appointments as Associate Physician at the Rockefeller University Hospital and Clinical Associate Professor of Public Health of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He is the Executive Senior Vice President at the Addiction Research and Treatment Corporation in Brooklyn, New York and his current responsibilities include providing medical care, teaching health professionals, supervising the administrative support and delivery of medical care, and conducting biomedical and behavioral research. Dr. Brown’s scientific contributions have focused upon the sequellae of addiction and improving treatment of substance use disorders, resulting in over 100 peer-reviewed articles, reflecting investigator-initiated and collaborative research sponsored by NIDA, NIAID, and private industry. Dr. Brown also serves as Medical Advisor to the National Football League. The recipient of multiple awards throughout his professional career, the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services has recognized Dr. Brown as the 2009 Addiction Medicine Physician of the Year.
