Biographical Sketch: Dr. Jennifer Horney is the deputy director of the University of North Carolina Preparedness and Emergency Response Learning Center and a research assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health where she leads the Spatial Health Assessment Research Program (SHARP), which provides technical assistance for public health programs interested in using geographic information systems. Her research includes planning and responding to pandemic influenza, understanding the needs of women and children during disasters, and studying the impact of regionalization on public health preparedness activities. Dr. Horney also leads a USDA funded project aimed at improving disaster resiliency in rural communities in the southeastern US.
