Biographical Sketch: Ganna (Anna) Kostygina is a postdoctoral scholar with the Tobacco Policy Research Program at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing. Dr. Kostygina received her M.A. and her Ph.D. degrees in Communication from the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication. She has a BA degree in English Language and Literature and French from Kharkiv National University (Ukraine). Ganna’s primary research focus is in health communication. She has a specific interest in developing and evaluating tailored health messages using diverse communication media, such as print media, the Internet, interactive videos, and computer games. She has done research on designing and testing tailored messages that communicate health risks associated with exposure to various environmental health hazards (i.e., radioactive iodine, environmental tobacco smoke), as well as messages that promote smoke-free policies.
