Biographical Sketch: Dr. Williams has a background in community psychology and adolescent research. As a scholar, her goal is to conduct research that has theoretical, practical and policy implications in three complementary areas: (1) African American adolescent well-being, (2) educational and health disparities, and (3) community-engaged research using a variety of approaches and methodologies. She has analyzed and presented key findings both qualitative and quantitative at scientific conferences. She has first-authored conference abstracts and manuscripts, as well as co-authored several other abstracts and manuscripts on other studies. She has extensive training in research design and methods, data collection, advanced statistical analyses and program evaluation. She has also worked extensively with vulnerable and underrepresented populations. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Kellogg Health Scholars Program, where she work on the YOUR Blessed Health (YBH) Project, an HIV/AIDS education program being conducted in African American faith-based organizations in Flint, MI. In addition to participating in the overall evaluation of YBH, she also works with youth who have or will participate in YBH to better understand what they need/want from adults as they make sexual decisions.
