Biographical Sketch: Alexandra Evans, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences at the Micheal & Susan Dell Center of the University of Texas School of Public Health at the Austin Regional campus. She has extensive experience in the evaluation of studies of nutrition and physical activity in multi-ethnic populations in schools, families, and residential children’s home settings. She is currently PI on several studies involving Hispanic families including an evaluation study to determine the effects of a garden and nutrition intervention of the fruit and vegetable intake of middle school students and a study to validate a fruit and vegetable food frequency questionnaire designed to assess fruit and vegetable intake among Mexican American adults. She is also a co-investigator of several large studies including T-COPPE, which is a state-wide evaluation study of the Safer Routes to Schools programs in Texas and SPAN IV, a statewide surveillance study of 4th, 8th, and 11th grade students and parents’ obesity-related behaviors.
