Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Rustveld is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. He is an Epidemiologist and Licensed Registered Dietitian with research interests in interventions for the prevention, and management of chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. He is involved in applying innovative diabetes education strategies to help patients with Type 2 Diabetes manage their diabetes. His primary research interest in the department has been investigation of metabolic and cardiovascular disease risk factors in patients with type 2 diabetes, from both population-based and primary care perspectives. More recently, he had an opportunity to expand his focus in diabetes research to explore novel approaches to improving glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
